1.- When should I replace my air conditioner? I recommend replacing it sometime between the 8th and 10th year of service.
2.- Why? Because all air conditioner units are made to perform at 95* outdoor temperature. Here in AZ average temp. in summer is about 105*. This means that these units wear out prematurely, causing them to be inefficient, making you spend more money in electricity, and repairs.
3.- Which brand? The one with the best warranty! Beware! some brands are overprized because of their advertising costs.
4.- Plan ahead, best time to do a retrofit is in the fall or the spring. Dont wait until it breaks down, because you just might end up spending a couple of nights in a hotel.
5.- Where to contract? With the contractor that really appreciates your business.Beware of those who just want to take your money and run, also,bigger doesnt necessarily mean better.

The air distribution aspect of an air conditioning and heating system can often be misunderstood. We all know that cool or warm air is needed in each room in order to bring that space to a comfortable condition, but to achieve this correctly takes much more than tying a duct onto an air handler and letting it blow. There are some basic concepts that must be correctly applied and balanced, to achieve a system that will deliver comfortable conditions throughout the condition space.
1,- Total air volume (CFM).
2.- Velocity (FPM).
3.- Supply duct size.
4.- Return duct size.
5.- Return air grill and filter type and size.
If you feel that your system takes a long time to achieve temperature setting, there is a well defined temperature differential throughout the house, or even in some extreme cases there is/are room/s that do not get conditioned properly.
